Google Pixel vs iPhone 7: which offers the best battery life?

Google made official on Tuesday 4 their new smartphones coming under the names Pixel and Pixel XL . The company left the Nexus line aside, at least for now, to focus on a new experience with Android, going beyond pure system as seen above. And in the event the company was keen to stress that their new smartphones have excellent battery life due to various optimizations made to the system.

While we have no practical tests to find out if the new smartphones the company actually offer a higher autonomy to what was seen in the Nexus line of devices, we will analyze the data passed on officially. First of all, it is worth remembering that Google Pixel has 2,770 mAh, while the Pixel XL offers 3,450 mAh. These values are higher to those seen in recent releases of Apple. The iPhone 7 offers 1,960 mAh and iPhone 7 Plus 2,900 mAh. Which one has greater autonomy?

Check out the official data provided by Google and Apple:

Google Pixel Google Pixel XL Apple iPhone 7 Apple iPhone 7 Plus
Capacity 2,770 mAh 3,450 mAh 1,960 mAh 2,900 mAh

In standby time both Google smartphones outperform rivals Apple, reaching incredible 23 days on standby in case of Pixel XL. In conversation we also see Google’s smartphones surpassing the models of Apple, with up to 32 hours of calls. Navigation via Wi-Fi, however, Apple just getting the better with a small advantage, while the 4G LTE see an hour additional navigation Android side.

Finally, Google announced that the Pixel XL is able to play music for 130 hours! This figure is more than double what is reported by Apple to the autonomy of the iPhone 7 Plus. Of course, we do not know how the tests were conducted to arrive at these results, but these figures show that the new Google smartphones can actually offer a good battery life.

Another point that the company played the event was on this fast charging technology in Pixel and Pixel XL able to make the smartphone render seven hours with only 15 minutes of charging. The iPhone 7, on the other, does not offer similar technology.

Will new Google smartphones have such a good autonomy as well as the company claims? Soon we should take practice tests with the devices.
